A New Year — 2020 Recap

December 31, 2020

Over the last few weeks I have tried to gather my thoughts on this year — 2020. It is hard to wrap my head around it all, the changes, the isolation, the fear and division we have seen, heard and experienced. Although we may have “been in this together” the effects of this pandemic have been drastically different for some more than others.

One thing I think we can agree on is that our new “normal” has been changed. From getting groceries, going to work, school, to how we interact with others. How we live our daily lives has changed, therefore our habits have changed — some good and some bad. I went back to a couple of my staple verses and reread my Faith over Fear blog (written ironically almost 6 months ago). It was a great reminder — from myself — of our role in all of this and the truth we stand on.

2020 Recap

2020 recap
Feb 2020 – That time the girls actually went out to dinner for my birthday and joked we should probably celebrate all our birthdays because it takes months of planning — jokes on us!

That time we went to opening night at the Rodeo
…also the last time we went to the rodeo

That time we went to Ft. Worth for a wedding…
and the last time we all got dresses up!

Virtual learning at it’s best
zoom with pets…
pj’s all day…
helping each other.

Virtual learning getting a little weird…
poker and…
fine dining.

That time I started a blog!

That time we planted a garden…
discovered our hibiscus bloomed like this…
and grew one banana pepper…
and two strawberries…
but lots of plants.

That time we had a patio built…
and I stayed there for 48 hrs.
That time we camped in the back yard in the middle of patio construction.

That time we rescued two baby angry birds…

That time I discovered “quarantine coffee”

That time we started an LLC…
and bought a beach house!

That time we all survived not one…
but two hip surgeries!

That time Bailey got a baby turtle and we lost it…
and we got a second turtle and discovered Gus was “losing” the turtles.

Sept 2020 –
that time the kids went
…back to school!

That time we still got to trick-or-treat…
and watch The Descendants 500 times.

That time we were able to be with our loved ones

As we move forward into a new year, my hope and prayer is that we look for the good, that we be the good, and learn to love and listen better. To reset our expectations, live in the moment more, count our blessings, and let your faith be bigger than your fear. So here’s to having faith by remembering. Remembering what God has brought us through and that He’s not finished yet.

Happy New Year!

That wasn’t on the “good” list! Although, I finally got them fixed and wore them again without incident! Lol

Hi and welcome! I hope to bring a little joy, humor and connection to you. To remind us all that we are not on this journey alone, that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, that comparison truly is the thief of joy and that faith will always overcome fear!
